Goshawk falconry
Overhawked, this was the first time I felt that temptation had got me close to this predicament.
Spike my small male German eyas was now entered and doing well, he is held in this photograph by friend and fellow apprentice falconer Leslie Hefford.
Zeena, my big female Russian passage goshawk is on my fist, she was still being manned and would turn out to be a formidable hunting hawk.
She was a monster and a rarity in those days and was most suitable as a hare hawk which she became when I sold her to a falconer on mainland England.
