Sheltering from the snow

We just made it over the summit, regrouped and settled down to enjoy our midday food.
Our supplies were basic but always consisted of fresh home baked bread, some cheese, some meats and tins of Russian sardines in oil. Everything tastes wonderful when you have a keen edge to your appetite and we were well into our meal when the storm started to blow in.

As the dark clouds rolled in, and the sun disappeared, the temperature dropped just enough to add an uncomfortable edge to our picnic.

It was time to pack up and get off this hill and down to lower and safer ground.
