Roughage for hawks

I included this image because I am not entirely sure what it is or what it is for other than possible a variation of something I have seen used south of the capitol.

There they call it a “jo”, and there it is made from natural fibre rope and tied into a neat knot. This knot is about the size of a large broad bean and is pushed into the crop of a falcon with the intention of clean the digestive tract as it passes through.

Here we see a fibrous material which looks natural although it is wrapped in meat which looks a bit like pork which would be very odd. Either way I am guessing it used for the same purpose as the “jo” is used further south.

One more reason to visit Manchurian falconers and learn their methods.
